Brian Reidy Brings Romance Novel to Chelmsford With "The Stone Mason's Dream"

The amateur author and Chelmsford Zoning Board of Adjustments member released the book this fall.

Chelmsford might not have any world renowned authors just yet, but Brian Reidy hopes he can change that....or at least sell some of his books.

This fall, Reidy released a novel entitled "The Stone Mason's Dream", a romance that takes place in New England, much of which is right here in Chelmsford.

"I don't want to give too much away," said Reidy. "But it's about two characters going through some trying times and coming out on the other side."

The novel marks a deparature for the 52-year-old Chelmsford Zoning Board member and amateur author, who had written a few novellas and short stories before spending around a year on this book, his first.

"The experience has been really positive, I've enjoyed writing it," he said. "If nobody else ever read it, I'd still be happy, although I hope that's not the case."

Reidy's working on another book that takes place in New York City and sees the creative process as a fun change of pace for the tiring, but still rewarding volunteer service he provides for the town.

"There's a lot of work and return in both things. I really enjoy the process and thinking through how I get there," said Reidy. "(but) you don't get the creative enjoyment on the ZBA, you're meeting a common goal there. Here, if I don't like how it sounds, I can change it. I'm a committee of one here."

Reidy's book is available on Amazon, as well as the Travelling Rhino, Chelmsford Copy Center, Fern's in Carlisle, Yoel's Emporium in Lowell and the Colonial Inn in Concord.
