The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Wednesday.

NWS predicts the area may see between around a foot of snow, which will start falling overnight and last into Wednesday night.

Channel 7’s Chris Lambert said the heaviest snow will stretch from the Wednesday morning commute into lunchtime. Snow may fall at more than an inch an hour during that time period. The snow will taper off on Wednesday afternoon and then finish off Wednesday night.

Snow removal will be difficult.

“No fluff factor with this one either as snow to liquid ratios run close to 10:1. It's good for snowballs and snowmen, not so good for shoveling,” Lambert said.

While other parts of the state will get 8 to 10 inches, towns north and west of Route 495 may hit the jackpot with more than a foot of snow. As is often the case, Chelmsford finds itself right on the border of the two sets of predictions for the area.

There’s a chance the immediate coastline may see lower numbers if there is mixing with sleet and ice.
