School Committee Hires Assistant Superintendent

Dr. Linda Hirsch has been appointed Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction for the Chelmsford Public School District. Last night, the School Committee voted in support of Superintendent Frank Tiano's recommendation.

Dr. Linda Hirsch has been appointed Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction for the Chelmsford Public School District. Last night, the School Committee voted in support of Superintendent Frank Tiano’s recommendation.  Dr. Hirsch has served as the district’s Department Coordinator for English Language Arts since 2011 and will succeed current Assistant Superintendent Kristan Rodriguez who was recently appointed to the position of Superintendent in the Groton-Dunstable Regional School District.  Dr. Hirsch will begin her new position on July 1, 2014.  

Dr. Hirsch holds a Doctorate of Education in Organizational Leadership from Northeastern University; a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies from Rivier College in Leadership and Instruction; a Masters of Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Northeastern University; a Bachelors of Arts degree in English Literature from the University of New Hampshire; and an Associates of Science degree in Business Administration, from the University of New Hampshire.                  

Dr. Hirsch has served in the field of education since 1992.  She began her career as an elementary teacher in Lexington, MA and Nashua, NH.  Her Chelmsford career began in 2006 as an English teacher at the McCarthy Middle School before moving into administration.  In each of her roles, Dr. Hirsch has demonstrated leadership in a wide-ranging variety of initiatives and committees, as well as, providing professional development and instruction on numerous literacy topics.  
        
Dr. Hirsch was in attendance at the School Committee meeting for the vote, after which she was congratulated by the committee and many supporters.  The Chelmsford resident shared that she is grateful for the opportunity to continue to serve her community in her new role and is greatly looking forward to the transition process over the next few months.  She assumes the position July 1, 2014.
