McCarthy Band & Chelmsford High School Band Perform at McCarthy Turf Field Ribbon Cutting

For the Chelmsford Bands Program, it is all about getting out in the community and doing what students love to do most - perform.

For the Chelmsford Bands Program, it is all about getting out in the community and doing what students love to do most- perform. So when CPS Superintendent Frank Tiano requested that the Bands perform at the McCarthy Turf Field ribbon cutting ceremony, the students and Directors took the performance as an opportunity to unite themselves with the Chelmsford community and provide the gift of music for the event. Students from McCarthy and CHS were in charge of performing The Star Spangled Banner at the opening of the event, which was a huge honor for the students and their teachers.

The Bands met on the morning of Sunday, October 27th and spent some time listening to the UMASS Amherst Minuteman Marching Band, who was rehearsing at George Simonian Alumni Stadium in Chelmsford. The students watched the University Band in awe, and it sparked an inspired and energetic performance themselves as they marched from the high school entered the new McCarthy field.
