HARRINGTON 4th GRADERS SING AND PLAY INSTRUMENTS ON THE GRAND STAIRCASE IN THE BOSTON STATE HOUSE

HARRINGTON 4th GRADERS SING AND PLAY INSTRUMENTS
ON THE GRAND STAIRCASE IN THE BOSTON STATE HOUSE

The Harrington Elementary School Fourth Grade traveled to Capitol Hill in Boston for their final performance of their winter chorus and orchestra concert series on Thursday, December 19th   Upon arrival at the historic building, the students took a personal tour through many of the rooms including the House Chamber.  One fourth grade student remarked that his favorite part of the trip was seeing the Hall of Flags, “Because I got to learn what the Chelmsford flag looks like and also what other flags look like!”

Their concert was held on the Grand Staircase, where the students stood proudly in front of their principal, teachers, and families. Under the direction of Lynn Rubin and Kate Comeau, the Chorus and Orchestra from Harrington Elementary performed a mix of seven traditional and non-traditional holiday songs entitled Winter Wonderland, Perfect Winter Day, Mary Had a Little Lamb, Chelmsford March, Ode to Joy, Here in My House, and Deck the Halls.  Students played violins, violas, recorders, and finger cymbals all from memory, and the children wrote all spoken introductions to songs.

This performance was sponsored by the State House as part of their annual Holiday Concert Series.  Harrington school received an official citation recognizing the school’s dedication to the arts and the outstanding musical performance.
