Busy Month for Harrington PRIDE!

It was a busy month for Harrington PRIDE!

Leading into February, we had our Grade Level Meetings. Our focus for these meetings was preparing for our Harrington Student Social Survey which will help us set goals for our school. We also discussed the meaning of RESPECT as part of Harrington PRIDE.

The first week of February we held our annual “Souper Bowl” where students brought in cans of food for us to donate to the Chelmsford Food Pantry. Once again, students were very generous and we had set a goal of 700 cans but exceeded that goal!!  As a school community we talked about how we were connecting and supporting our local Chelmsford community.

Finally, we had our first annual Heritage Day and Festival!  Students have been working on Heritage Projects which they posted throughout the hallways of Harrington During our Heritage Day, all students had the opportunity to view the projects and talk about their heritage and culture.  In addition, we had an all-school assembly where we sang songs in different languages and students presented projects they had worked on. We finished the assembly with us celebrating our diversity and singing the Star Spangled Banner as a school.

During the evening of February 4th, we had our first annual “Heritage Festival” which was sponsored by the Harrington PTO.  During the evening, parents were able to walk through the school to visit the Heritage projects as well as enjoy displays of different countries presented by Harrington parents, watch a variety of performances and sample a variety of foods from different cultures.  It was an amazing night where we celebrated the rich culture and diversity of the Harrington School.

We look forward to our March events and continuing to work toward earning PRIDE PAWS every day.
