March is Youth Art Month and Music in Our Schools Month, which makes for a busy time for our students and teachers in the Fine and Performing Arts Department! To celebrate, the department is hosting several special events this month.
Our 2013 CPS K-12 Student Art Exhibit is in full swing at the Chelmsford Public Library. Hundreds of student works will be on display through the month of March. A reception was held early this month and the following video provides a glimpse at the event:
We also hosted our fourth annual Grade 4 Select Chorus Festival, which was held Saturday March 9th at the CHS Performing Arts Center. 100 Students from Byam, Center, Harrington, and South Row Elementary Schools came together with Grade 6 Mentors from McCarthy and Parker for a day of music and fun, culminating in an afternoon concert. The following video is a behind-the-scenes sneak peek at the day:
...But wait, there's more! 300 Grade 4-12 Orchestra Students and their Directors joined forces on March 6th for our annual "Stringfest" Concert! The highlight reel can be seen here:
And last but not least, don't forget that Parker Middle School and Chelmsford High School are the only 2 schools representing MA as they sing The Star Spangled Banner in the National Association for Music Education "Concert for Music in Our Schools Month!"Here is the link:
Thank you for your time and attention. I hope you enjoy watching our students accomplish great things in these videos. Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support of our Fine and Performing Arts Programs, and Happy Music in Our Schools/Youth Art Month!
