Chelmsford High School Art Students Reach out to the World with their Artistic Skills

Chelmsford High School art students have joined in a nationwide initiative called the Memory Project.
The Memory Project is a nonprofit organization in which art students create portraits for disadvantaged, neglected, or orphaned children and teens around the world.
Chelmsford High School Art Teacher Ms. Terry Karangioze has facilitated her Honors Art Portfolio students’ participation in the project. Each art student in the Honors art class received their own photograph of an orphaned Haitian child to sketch, and the CHS artists enthusiastically sketched graphite portraits of each child.
The Memory Project Organization will present these portraits to the children in Haiti as gifts, and will send CHS photographs of the Haitian children receiving their special portraits as a token of appreciation.
Ms. Karangioze’s art students are very proud to have been able to share in this unique project and provide these personal portrait gifts that will last a lifetime for the children. Honors art student Brianna Fabianek commented, “This is a special art project! I love that I’m giving a special gift to a child in Haiti!” Another student, Sophia Upton, said, “I love this art project! It is so unique. It really is a beautiful gift for children throughout the world! It’s so important for us as students to not only think about sharing with our community but also the world.”
Ms. Karangioze says, “The Memory Project has initiated a higher level of artistic skills and purpose for the Honors art students! The art students are highly invested in making a difference to the Haitian children by sharing a special artistic gift! This will be a life long memory for myself and all of my art students!”
