Abby Kennels Says Goodbye To The Z Litter!

Abby Kennels of Chelmsford (abbykennels.com) places all of Ziva's puppies! Follow us on Twitter @dogmankevin for more puppy information!

Zoe snuggles deeper into the girls’ arms, tired after her playtime and content to be held.  Playful and people oriented, Zoe is also curious and intelligent.  She is going to live with a family and their older Shepherd.  Zoe will fit right into their busy family life.

Zeke bounds after anything that moves!  More competitive and dominant than his siblings, Zeke possesses the self-confidence and high prey drive that is desirable in the sport of Schutzhund.  He never stops running and moving and exploring.  Zeke is going to a couple who are experienced handlers and deeply committed to training him for Schutzhund competition.

Zelda follows the young man around, having picked him as her owner way before he even notices her.  She is one of the two solid black females in the Z litter.  Sturdy, outgoing and active, Zelda is looking forward to long walks, vigorous games of fetch and life on a farm with her active family.

Ziggy is a stunning sable male with a gentle, engaging personality.   Ziggy likes to watch first before joining into his siblings’ games but once he plunges in, he is spunky and fun.  Ziggy has a long drive ahead of him as he heads to his forever home in Virginia.   There, he will settle into his family with the help of another Abby Kennels’ Shepherd.

Abby Kennels Z litter is going home!   They’ve grown from helpless newborns to sturdy individuals with distinct personalities.  Over the past seven weeks, their breeder, Kevin Lanouette, has observed each puppy carefully.  Selecting a prospective owner for each developing puppy is an inexact science.  Kevin has over 27 years of experience matching dogs and owners.  This placement is as important to him as the original reason for this particular breeding.

Placement testing is not a temperament critique.  Proper breeding results in good, steady dogs and that’s what Kevin strives for with each breeding.  As differences appear in the puppies, placement testing helps him determine the type of situation in which the individual puppy would thrive.   A high prey drive, dominant puppy should not go to the older couple looking for a walking companion.  The mellow, content puppy should not go to the couple competing at top levels in the sport of Schutzhund.  Different personalities are suited for different living environments.

Abby Kennels is sad to say goodbye to the Z litter.  We wish them and their new families years of love and companionship!
