Grandparents Day, September 8, kicks off National Assisted Living Week which takes place September 8-14. Any small gesture can make a significant difference in someone's day. Why not take an hour this week and donate time, books magazines, yarn or anything you can think of that will bring a smile an assisted living patient. Visit  one of Chelmsford assisted living centers: Chelmsford Crossing, 199 Chelmsford St., or The Atrium at Drum Hill, 2 Technology.

The Chelmsford Library  is offering teens, grades 5-12, the opportunity to create and taste delicious creations. The event takes place today, September 11. Drop in between 4:30 and 5:30 p.m.

The Chelmsford Health Department is hosting a wonderful group seminar entitled, "Going Within to Our Peaceful Space. This workshop is designed for people interested in expanding and cultivating their inner-world and learn to nourish their body, mind and spirit through meditation and group sharing. Fight Cancer Later This Month

Lung cancer takes more lives in Massachusetts every year than any other cancer.  Massachusetts-area residents can join the movement to defeat lung cancer at the fourth annual Free to Breathe Chelmsford Lung Cancer 5K Run/Walk and 1-Mile Walk on Sept. 22, with all proceeds supporting the National Lung Cancer Partnership, a non-profit organization dedicated to doubling lung cancer survival by 2022.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. at the Harrington School, with a rally at 9 a.m., the kids' dash beginning at 9:20, the 5k beginning at 9:45.
