A long time West Chelmsford landmark, the Town and Country Store on Old Westford Road closed its doors last Friday after 33 years (see pictures). With the new Stop and Shop open on Chelmsford Street, there has been plenty of discussion about the old Stop and Shop plaza in the center of town. Town officials recently discussed this plaza at the Board of Selectmen's public input session. At that session, officials said Stop and Shop is still collecting rent from Marshall's and therefore has been slow to consider redevelopment. Officials at that meeting also said it would be unlikely that Stop and Shop would lease to a competitor grocery store.
