Latest Figures Indicate Steep Dip in Chelmsford Foreclosures

The Banker and Tradesman noted what they termed as a "drastic" drop in foreclosure activity in a report on March figures released last week, with their data for Chelmsford echoing that sentiment.

Last week, Boston-based real estate magazine Banker and Tradesman announced a "drastic" drop in foreclosure activity around the Commonwealth in their latest release of data, a trend that was also echoed in Chelmsford. According to the magazine, Chelmsford saw only two foreclosure petitions for the month of March 2013, in comparison to the 13 in March 2012. Year-to-date petitions were also down from 23 to 7, with monthly and year-to-date foreclosure auctions and deeds also dropping dramatically. Middlesex County as a whole also saw a steep drop in foreclosure petitions, auctions and deeds both for March and for all of 2013 so far compared to 2012. "Overall, we're seeing foreclosures drop all over the country, but Massachusetts is …

Your Next Car: What's It Going to Be?

I'm hoping to drive my old beater into the ground before we need to get another car, but I'm on the lookout. What's your next car going to be?

My wife and I drive a perfectly good 2002 Nissan Sentra with 127,318 miles on it. "Stella" has four wheels and gets us from Point A to Point B.   We've reached the stage in the life of the car where we don't repair body damage (as you can tell from the accompanying photo). I'm ashamed for my Dad to see it. But hey, it's paid for. Even though I'd love to get 200K miles out of Stella, she has some mechanical problems, like a seized bolt that has left the transmission fluid unchangeable for about eight years. She could conk out any old day. So we've been on the lookout for our next car. I'm paying attention to car commercials, asking friends about their cars. You know the feeling. We're looking for something that gets good gas mileage, and is…

Groups From New Hampshire and New Jersey Raise Money for Bauman

Independent groups continue to help with the Chelmsford resident and Boston Marathon victim's expenses.

While folks at home have been eager to help local resident and Boston Marathon hero Jeff Bauman, support has been coming in from locations far and wide. Just over the border, Tulley Motors in Nashua held a fundraiser on Saturday, and other efforts have sprung up since the bombing, including the Concord, NH Youth Hockey League and a fundraiser later this month by Bauman's relatives in New Jersey. While Bauman will receive money from the One Fund, the nation effort raising money for victims of the Boston Marathon Bombings, Bauman’s share probably won’t be enough to pay the enormous healthcare costs he is facing. As of Monday, the Bucks for Bauman fundraising page had reached approximately $750,000 of its $1 million goal. Anyone interested in…

Is Massachusetts Bad for Business?

Results from a recent executive survey ranked Massachusetts 47th for business.

A CEO magazine ranks Massachusetts as one of the worst states in the nation for business. Chief Executive Magazine ranked Massachusetts 47th based on a survey of corporate leaders. Survey respondents reported the Bay State is one of the worst for taxation and regulation. The state Republican Party is pointing to the survey and saying that Gov. Deval Patrick and the Democratic-led Legislature are bad for the economy and business. What do you think about Massachusetts’ business climate? Is this a good state in which to do business?
