If you have been thinking about getting chickens - then this could be a dangerous proposition - you may just become hooked.  Terry Golsen will be at the Chelmsford Agway this Saturday, Oct 20th at 11:00 to give a seminar on how to prepare your chickens for the winter.  She is an avid backyard chicken keeper - she has her own blogsite and a fantastic website HenCam.com - and she was a guest on the Martha Stewart show.  She is the absolute main reason why I acquired chickens in the first place.  I had listened to her seminar the first Spring that we had bought the store and she made it sound so fun, that I broke down and ordered my own chickens. They are so much fun with their distinct personalities - and they are so easy to take care of (a big selling point for me) that it really is worth it to come listen to Terry. Then you could spend your winter researching chicken breeds to decide which breeds you would like to buy in the Spring.  Right now I have eleven chickens that represent five different breeds.  Who knew there are over 400 breeds of chickens. So make sure to stop by the store this Saturday for an informative seminar - Terry will be available after the seminar for all your questions.
