Now that the primary season is almost over, I want to thank all three Democratic Governor’s Council candidates for giving us an energetic primary campaign season and increasing people’s awareness of what the Governor’s Council does.  Also, thanks to all the voters who will be coming out on September 6 and exercising their right to vote.

The Governor’s Council has a divisive and disruptive process. It is dysfunctional and it causes hesitation in the best applicants applying for judgeships. Tom Merrigan current member of the Governor’s Council summed it up best:

“I know for a fact that what can go on serves as a deterrent to a robust applicant pool.  People are daunted by what they see, where things are turned inside out to make someone look stupid or foolish or corrupt in a way that sometimes would cause people to think long and hard about whether they want to step into that experience "

The Governor’s Council lacks transparency and accountability to the general public.  They lack commonsense and often asks the wrong questions when deciding judgeships and parole board members.     

The Governor's Council is the only checks and balances the people have on the Governor's appointments.  I have never met the Governor nor do I belong to a political party (Independent), so I don't owe anyone (or any party) anything and they don't owe me. 

A wise man once said:"I believe it's the people that run the government, not the other way around."  I agree.

All I promise to do, is to do the job the best I can for you...the people.

We can do better. On Tuesday November 6 please vote for Tom Sheff.
