Candidate for Governor's Council, District 3

Sheff Plans to Form Special Committee

The Committee to Elect Tom Sheff is proud to announce that Independent Candidate for Governor's Council in District 3, Tom Sheff, promises to create a committee full of independent minded thinkers to look into the issue of whether or not the Commonwealth of Massachusetts needs the Governors Council.

“As I walk around campaigning for the Governor's Council, one of the most common questions I hear is whether we even need a Council.” Sheff added, “It's one thing if a question is asked once in a blue moon, but the question keeps coming up constantly. Let's put together an independent committee to look at all the possibilities and ramifications so we can have an educated public discussion about it. The one thing I don't want to lose is public input.”

Sheff then said, “If elected, I would push to create this committee and go into it open minded.”

The Governor's Council (also known as the Executive Council) of Massachusetts is a popularly-elected board which must give the governor advice and consent with respect to nominations of judicial officers, appointment and removal of notaries public and justices of the peace, and issuance of pardons and commutations.

... and if this committee should decide that the GC is superfluous will you Tom resign from your position or would this committee be hand picked by you to agree with your very reasons for running? Does something not pass the smell test? Shermanesque stature does matter. good luck.

Schlock,
We've known each other for years, do you think I'm bluffing? If this committee finds that there is a better, more efficient way of appointing judges the I would finish my obligation to the voters and support the committee's conclusions (as long as it makes sense).
