Potential Full Day Kindergarten Update and Survey

As you many of you know, the Chelmsford Public Schools District has a committee to study the possibility of full day kindergarten in Chelmsford.  This committee, created by our 5 year Strategic Plan, consists of central administrators, principals, teachers, school committee members, and parentsrepresenting all four elementary schools as well as our preschool program which will give the committee a variety of perspectives.

During the winter months, the committee will be researching all aspects of a full-day kindergarten program including budget implications, space availability, curriculum, research and the overall benefits and/or barriers of full day vs. half day programs.   One of the subcommittees developed a parent and community member survey which is available from Friday January 18th at 5pm until Friday January 25th at 5pm. You can find it on the Chelmsford Public Schools website or you can copy and paste the link below into your browser:

This is an exciting time for our district as we look into a full day Kindergarten program.  As this would be a substantial change in our district, please know that the administration is taking a thoughtful and measured approach to make sure that we are well prepared to make any change as successful as possible.

**Please note that registration for the 2013-2014 school year is for half-day kindergarten.**
