Children’s librarians across the country have teamed up to encourage families to bring their children to the library on February 2, 2013. This is the second annual Take Your Child to the Library Day, a concept created last year by Nadine Lipman, a children's librarian in Waterford, Connecticut. Sharon Colvin, chair of the Massachusetts Library Association Youth Services Section, says that “this is a great opportunity to encourage both existing library patrons and new families to bring their children to the library.”
Chelmsford Public Library is celebrating Take Your Child to the Library Day by hosting an all day family scavenger hunt in addition to our regular programming. The Chelmsford Public Library will be open from 9:30am – 5:30pm on February 2 and families are encouraged to stop in anytime during the day even if they can’t make the scheduled activities.
As of January 16, 58 MA libraries are participating!
