TELL US: What Are Your Thoughts on The Moonstones Flags Being Removed?
The flags didn't meet Town Bylaws, but do you think they should have stayed?
If things look differently driving down Chelmsford Street, one possible explanation might be the removal of the flags in front of Moonstone (pictured).
Last week the Chelmsford Planning Board discussed the issues of the bylaws (fast forward to approximately the 50:00 mark), but today we want to hear what you think.
Should the sign bylaws be changed in this case? Or does it help the aesthetics of the area? Tell us what you think in the comments!

I didn't know that Moonstones was asked to take them down, but I didn't think they enhanced the restaurant: made the front more cluttered.

Such a small nothing of a detail ... what harm, exactly, did the flags pose? I don't care one way or the other, but please focus on more important issues, like pushing S&S to do SOMETHING with that eyesore they have left behind across from the library. What a horrid sight!

I totally agree with Anna. Makes Chelmsford look like a scene from the Depression era. This could be a vibrant and exciting Center and resident of the Village and Apologist

Unfortunately, the only thing that Will motivate Stop & Shop to move on the center location, is money. Boycotting the new store until they act is the best way. If their business dropped and there were flyers and picketers in front the new store and they ended up in the news, we would see some action.

Anna Bucciarelli is absolutely right. I am glad our bylaws are being enforced, but focusing on this, the media is just distracting us from the real issues like the food desert AND eyesore Stop & Shop has visited on our town center.

No need for us to boycott the new Stop & Shop, Chelmsfordian. The Billerica Market Basket is nearer, and we are now regularly going there. Free coffee too.

Is there no law covering unoccupied buildings?. Is there one for property owners if taxes etc are paid? Is there no answer to solve the problem of the former STOP & SHOP store? The bylaws are expected to be followed. Need change, then change the ByLAW or add a clause to be able to persue an exception to it......

I agree they did look cluttered, but yes bigger fish to fry. Are town meeting reps allowed to park commercial vehicles on their front lawn? Is this a special privilege. I constantly see a commercil vehicle parked on the front lawn next to the south fire station. If we are going to enforce flags we can most certainly enforce this. It looks awful and trashy.

And how about on-street parking altogether? Right at the end of driveways across from the parked car. Accident waiting to happen (I know first hand) and I was under the assumption that on-street parking was a no-go in this town ... am I wrong?

Anyone can park a commercial vehicle where they want. Iam sorry it upsets you where I park my truck.

Obviously Moonstones hasn't shaken the right hands and Stop and Shop has. I was going to say 'greased' but......
