Suspect Arrested in Chelmsford Following Robbery of Burlington Citizens Bank

Police arrested Jason Jewett on a charge of unarmed robbery following the incident.

 

 

Burlington Police responded to a bank robbery on Middlesex Turnpike that led to the suspect being arrested in Chelmsford after a chase.

According to the Burlington Police Department, at 2:54 p.m. today Burlington Police responded to the Citizens Bank at 248 Middlesex Turnpike in Burlington for a reported bank robbery. 

According to the department, officers responded and immediately made contact with an eye witness who provided valuable information on the suspect, the getaway vehicle and the direction of travel.  This information was passed on to area departments and within minutes officers spotted the suspect vehicle.

A motor vehicle pursuit followed resulting in the suspect abandoning the vehicle and fleeing on foot.  He was apprehended by detectives from Chelmsford police a short distance from the vehicle attempting to hide. 

Jason Jewett (AKA Jason Cardella), of 38 Rhodes St., Billerica, was subsequently arrested.  He was transported to the Burlington police station where he was booked on unarmed robbery and other charges related to the incident.

This wasn't the reason for the horrible congestion at about 3:30pm on Rt. 3 between 110 and Drum Hill, was it? Finally passed one SUV and oodles of police cars.
