October Sees 156 Jobs Created in Chelmsford

The Massachusetts Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development indicated in their latest report that job growth climbed significantly in Chelmsford for the month of October.

 

 

Unemployment in Chelmsford continues to remain well under state and national averages following October data published recently.

According to the Massachusetts Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development (EOLWD), Chelmsford's workforce climbed from 17,916
in September to 18,072 in October, with approximately 40 fewer unemployed individuals as well.

That lowered Chelmsford's unemployment rate to 5.1 percent, down from 5.4 percent in September.

Statewide, the seasonally unadjusted rate for October was at 6.2 percent, down 0.2 percent from September, and down 0.5 percent compared to October 2011.

Among Chelmsford's neighbors, Billerica (6.0 to 5.1),  Carlisle (4.7 to 4.3), Lowell (8.6 to 8.2) and Tyngsborough (6.5 to 6.0) all saw drops in unemployment as well from September to October according to the EOLWD announcement, while Westford stayed even at 4.1 percent.
