Overnight Fire Damages Jade East Restaurant

An early morning fire caused between $5,000-$10,000 damage to the Jade East Restaurant on Route 38.

The two-alarm fire broke out around 3:30 a.m. and was called in by someone at the Motel Caswell, according to Fire Chief Mike Hazel.

Construction Officially Underway at High School

After years of discussion, there is finally evidence that a new high school will be built on Church Street.

Demolition of the Wilmington High School gymnasium began this week with students gone for February vacation, and on Wednesday the building began to come down brick by brick.
