LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Jeff Hardy for Town Meeting Rep

A letter from Jeff Hardy.

To the editor:

I am running for re-election as one of your many dedicated Town Meeting Representatives, with the hope you will allow me to continue to serve the wonderful town we all share. I am a third generation Chelmsford resident and 1982 graduate of Chelmsford High School.  Later I graduated from Daniel Webster College with a degree in Business Administration and Marketing.  My daughter Sarah was also educated through the Chelmsford Schools. She graduated from Chelmsford High School in 2003 before going on to get her bachelors degree from UMASS Lowell and is current studying for her Master’s degree through the Boston University satellite program located on Alpha Rd.

Along with my brother Rob of Tyngsboro and my parents, Jerry and Sheila of Chelmsford,  I am the owner and Treasurer of Hardy Doric Inc., Chelmsford MA.  Through the family business I eventually was given the opportunity to serve as a director of the Chelmsford Business Association eventually becoming President and being elected as the association’s 2004 Member of the Year.

For the past five years I have served as co-chair of the Chelmsford Parade Committee along with a group of dedicated hard working volunteers.   This committee has continued a 43 plus tradition of celebrating our countries independence while maintaining the true hometown family feel of our community.

Chelmsford has also given me the opportunity to serve on the Board of Chelmsford 350th Celebration Steering Committee as well as Chairman of the Fundraising Committee.  With the help of many dedicated and generous people, this celebration was funded entirely by private contributions. I also coached Chelmsford Girls Softball League 1993-1998 and occasionally serve as a guest Instructor Mt. Ida College, Newton MA

All the accomplishments listed above were possible through team work with different groups of hard working volunteers.  People, who were willing to exchange ideas, listen to one another and act on the best result for the people we served.  I would like the opportunity to continue that work as one of your representatives.

I feel I bring a unique perspective to Town Meeting.  Growing up in town, working, raising a child and owning a business allows me to experience all aspects of the town.  I have seen Chelmsford grow and become a vibrant cooperative community of volunteerism, from residence, new and old, business owners and town employees alike.

On April 3, I respectfully ask for one of your 18 votes for Precinct 6 Town Meeting Representative.

Sincerely,

Jeffrey Hardy
