About 14 vendors crowded the Chelmsford Agway greenhouse on Saturday for its first Winter Farmers Market.

The Chelmsford Agway Winter Farmers Market, held Saturdays throughout the season until February 5, takes over from the Summer Market held on Town Common. Vendors present on Saturday included such known ones as Jones Farm and Annie's Gluten Free Bakery alongside new faces such as Tower Root Beer.

Susan Gates, who coordinates the Summer Market, and helped Agway co-owner Lisa Bougoulas with organizing for the winter event, called the event a successful example of town-business partnership.

"This is really wonderful. It's great for the community," she said.

Bougoulas said she was excited by the turnout of people who came to the event.

"I'm very happy. It's one of those things…when you do the advertising and wonder 'ok, will anyone show up?' Now I can sleep tonight," she said.

Ricxhard: You did a great job telling the story of the Market, with your excellent photos, along with their associated captions! That was the best way to let everyone know what the Agway Farmers Market was like. It was a huge success!
(Please note that I was out biking on the bike path that morning....hence, my biker getup in the photo that you took at the market!)

I was going to say, Tom, what was with the do-rag?! Did you join a gang and not tell us?

Tom, I had the same question as did Krista. I thought that might be the new you! But away with the frivolity, the indoor market was great (although I was shopping for bird seed) but will add it to my Saturday routine.

Good thing I clarified what my wild getup was all about!

Next time, I may have to stop by the Agway market AFTER my bike ride rather than during it! ;-)
