Adopted from: Greyhound Friends in Hopkinton.

Their story: Lynda, my wife, was a volunteer for Greyhound Friends and she had brought me to a few meet and greets the organization held throughout MA..I found the meet and greets very informational about the breed but what was more important was the love these animals have for their people and vice versa.

Star passed New Year's Day 2003. Lynda was heartbroken as Star was her first dog. We then adopted Faith, a 4-year-old female Greyhound. Bringing her home for the first time was certainly frustrating and entertaining. The frustration came from the fact that she wasn't house broken. So there were a few accidents to say the least. But to take her for a walk around the neighborhood and see her fascinated at mailboxes, street drains etc, was funny. At 4 years old, she never saw these things. Her life was, crate, race, crate, race. In 8 years, she had become my best friend and I, hers....

We had to put Faith down Nov. 11 2011 - she was 12 and was unable to walk and breathe since her early life was so demanding, the racing life finally caught up to her. It was a very difficult decision to make but I know she is happy - that smile never left her face.

We are dogless now and taking a small break but we will get more dogs. I don't believe in getting an animal from a breeder. There are so many homeless abandoned animals out there that they deserve a chance. I know Star and Courage were happy to leave their big fluffy beds for the next Greys to fill the house. Conrad and Faith share the same sentiments. Their beds are waiting and I know that the next dog we rescue will feel like he/she is in heaven.
