Five Things for Today in Chelmsford: Sept. 25

From Vinal Square to Kate's Corner, here

#1. Pictured Over the summer, Chelmsford High School Senior Emily Moreau created a beautiful “window” mural in the Principal’s Secretary office at the High School. This mural is a “trompe l’oeil,” which is French for an artwork that fools the eye. Her realistic and convincing mural appears to open up the cinder block wall through a window that reveals the CHS front hallway on the other side.

For more information on the Chelmsford Fine Arts Programs, please contact Christina Whittlesey at whittleseyc@chelmsford.k12.ma.us.

#2. The McCarthy School PTO Needs Volunteers... for various events. To volunteer, e-mail pto.mccarthy@gmail.com.

#3. All This Month at the Main Branch of the Library... an art exhibit entitled "struggle of the World's Workers" will be on display.

#4. Are You Looking for Alternatives to Microsoft Office?: Check out Andrew Weiner's blog from yesterday!

#5. A Special Town Meeting Coming Just Before This Fall's Town Meeting... was approved at last night's Board of Selectmen meeting to discuss the possible purchase of three properties near the intersection of Pine Hill and Galloway roads for open space preservation.

We'll have more this week on that and more on other Town Meeting topics as the big day approaches.

Also, coming up tonight, the Two State Senate candidates are scheduled to be on the "Politically Incorrect" Show, which will air tonight, Tuesday, at 8:30 PM on Chelmsford Cable TV. I will post the link to the video of the show as soon as I get it, so that voters throughout the Senate District can see the show. The two State Senate candidates scheduled to be on tonight's one hour P.I. Show are Mike Barrett (Democrat) and Sandi Martinez (Republican).
