#3. At The Lowell Superior Court Yesterday: In the anti-SLAPP between Roland Van Liew and Roy Earley, the case was taken under advisement, with a final ruling pending.

#4. On August 12: There's an opening reception for Nan Quentin's acrylic and watercolor paintings at the Weston Nurseries from 2 to 4 p.m. The Art Gallery is located in the upper mezzanine of the Garden Center.

Her work will be on display during August and September.

#5. Pictured: The Conner family of Chelmsford and hundreds of other Boston-area kids and families went down to Fenway Park on Aug. 1 as part of the Expect Miracles Foundation's "Financial Services Against Cancer" event.
