Five Things for Today in Chelmsford: Aug. 31

From Vinal Square to Kate's Corner, here are your Five Things for today in Chelmsford.

 

 

#1. Don't Forget: Today is the final day of the Chelmsford Fire Department Food Drive.

#2. Half-Staff Notice: Please be advised that Governor Deval L. Patrick has ordered that the United States flag and the Commonwealth flag be lowered to half-staff at all state buildings from sunrise until sunset on Saturday, September 1, 2012 in honor of U.S. Army PFC Michael R. Demarsico II of North Adams who was killed in action in Afghanistan on August 16, 2012.

#3. Additional Half-Staff Notice: Please be advised that in accordance with President Barack Obama's proclamation, Governor Deval L. Patrick has ordered that the United States flag and the Commonwealth flag be lowered to half-staff from sunrise until sunset on Friday, August 31, 2012 in honor of Neil Armstrong who died August 25, 2012.

#4. Over at UMass Lowell: Chelmsford's Jennifer Bobak, Jason Callahan,  Katherine Henckler, Stephen Kinney, and Anthony Scott, were honored in a ceremony of members in the school's SALUTE chapter, the country's only National Honor Society chapter specifically for veterans.

#5. Pictured: Eagle Scout candidate Ethan Russel-Benoit helped build a grape arbor at Sunny Meadow Farm last weekend for his Eagle Scout project.
