Looks like CHS has some work to do- College readiness index is only 29.0 out of 100.0 index and Advance Placement rate ( AP) is only 35%. Ranked #47. How does this compare to past rankings? Checked this with Boston Latin #2. BLS has an AP rate of 93% and college readiness of 83.6, with minority students 51% and economically disadvantaged at 30%. We have a minority enrollment of 12% and economically disadvantaged of only 6%, and our student /teacher ratio is better, 15:1 compared to 22:1 in the city. This needs to be surfaced and discussed. Always felt that only a select few took AP courses. This confirms that. The college readiness index is of dire concern. I don't want to initiate a statistical comparison blog here. Suffice it to say , judging from the results ,everyone should agree that there is work to be done lest the adage " people move here for the schools" becomes superfluous. BTW , a little more respect and deference to the teachers, less union bashing , should be acknowledged.

Tyler, I think Boston Latin is an exam school so students going there are applying from all over the city. The comparison is not really valid.

Another way to look at CHS is that it's ranking is in the top 15% of the 351 high schools rated--not bad. Also, CHS sends more then 80% of its students to 4 year colleges/universities and around 12% to community colleges--again not bad. So the 29.0 out of 100 U.S. News readiness ranking doesn't really represent the whole picture but a segment that is only based on AP classes and how the students in those classes performed.

I think for all the High schools that are in Mass. 47 is a good number, of course it could be better but it could be worst too.

To rate the high schools on some of the criteria shown above is a mistake. Some of those criteria points have nothing to do with how good a High School is in our State. Therefore I wouldn't pay any attention to this type of list.
Based upon the more relevant criteria, Chelmsford High School is probably right near the top, and probably in the top ten.
