Art Walk Continues Through Jan. 31

Check out the art in the center of town and then vote for your favorites.

The Winterfest ArtWalk is officially on display and the competition is heating up. The walk will continue through midnight on Jan. 31, when votes will tallied so winners may be named Winterfest weekend, Feb. 3-5.

Participating businesses who have loaned their windows for the ArtWalk include  The Traveling Rhino, Jim's Barber Shop, Jessie's Place, Chelmsford Card & Gift Shop, Picture Yourself, Beadle's Bead Shop, Easy Housekeeping Shop, Newton's Hair Salon, Sullivan & Gannon, and Candlelite Quilt Shop.

The theme of the art in all windows is "Chelmsford."

The competition will have two winners: a popular vote winner which, will be the window display that garners the most votes by the voting public; and a juried winner, which goes to the artist whose window display "most expresses and evokes the theme of the competition, Chelmsford," according to ArtWalk organizer Peggy Dunn.

Dunn said the judge for the juried of the competition is Mr. Michael Lally, Executive Director, The Whistler House Museum of Art in Lowell.

Both of the winners will be announced at the annual WinterFest Community Social held at the Chelmsford Library on Friday, Feb. 3, at 7 p.m.

The artists' displays will remain on view in the storefront windows for public enjoyment thru the second week in February.

Brochures are available at all the participating businesses and contain the ballot for voting. Ballot boxes are located at Jessie's Place Restaurant, Chelmsford Gift and Card Shop, Adams Library, Harrington Wine & Liquors, and Chelmsford Copy & Secretarial Center.  Voters will detach the ballot from the brochure, mark the box with their favorite display, and drop it in the ballot box.

Ballot boxes will be collected the morning of Feb. 1.
