5 Reasons Chelmsford is Better Than Billerica

We had a hard time narrowing it down to five.

In the spirit of the famous Thanksgiving rivalry, we decided to list five reasons - of the many reasons - why Chelmsford is better than Billerica.

With the help of Town Manager Paul Cohen, we're sure this is a pretty solid list.

1. Chelmsford has no adult entertainment bars. Billerica, on the other hand, has Mac's Two Lounge. Stay classy, Billerica. We love how you have such high standards for the ladies in your town.

2.  Chelmsford has direct access to I-495. That means more companies want to do business here. Billerica may as well be cut off from the outside world. We don't even know how they find their way home from any of their three Market Baskets.

3. Chelmsford has a better football team. As if this one even needs explaining. We think 42-13 is a safe score prediction for tomorrow, don't you?

4. Chelmsford has a rail trail. It's called nature, Billerica. You can't enjoy it in a gym.

5. Chelmsford has a squeaky clean building inspector. Remember Billerica resident and former Chelmsford building commissioner Scott Hammond? He resigned in June after allegations that he violated zoning bylaws on his property in Billerica.  Yikes. On the other hand, Mark Dupell was hired at the end of June by Town Manager Paul Cohen, and things seem to be working out just fine.

Bonus: Oh yeah, we don't have this guy. What a hack.

Also, Billerica doesn't have a Patch. Yet another reason why we're better!

(Part1) Sorry but it’s not much of a comparison. You forgot to mention our sidewalks roll up by 10:00pm too. Having no night life might be an economic issue and a God save. It does not have to include "Adult Entertainment" . Besides I'm sure there's enough drama behind closed doors than there is a need to seek it publicly. Maybe being this is why Chelmsford is as it is. A quiet town most stay out of for reasons not going into but noted by a lot of outside contacts. Our Police log shows we have large enough issues anyway. Some of which are same place domestics and other crimes being drawn in from the outside being a good town. I'm happy with most of my Towns ethics and ways and yet it is not perfect or the best. The rail trail is both a plus and a minus equally, that is if your not living directly off it you would not know the minuses.

(Part2) Football is a great sport like other sports it is nice to have a top team my prediction is 21-17 we shall see. As for RT495, it's noisy even at night besides most of our rural routes are more entertaining with the "speedy Gonzales's" acting like they are at the race track all the time and the bumper buggers that just do not understand 25 MPH Zones and worst Flashing 20 MPH school zones. Enough said, I think I covered a lot of the points mentioned. It's a town like a lot of towns thank God it's not a city and some old traditions and living standards are cherished, somewhat. I'm like the way back machine and wish the Millennium never came about with it's political correctness, holiday commercialization, and Religious concerns of having to walk on egg shells or I'm insulting another's beliefs. In my mind if the belief was proud enough to them they would not have to worry about others or my beliefs. So please celebrate and mind your P's and Q's for the better of this world.

Billerica has plenty of hiking in "nature" - it's just not paved. :-)

I love it Jim! I was going to post the same thing! Billerica has a lot of places to walk in nature minus the cyclists, dog leavings that people won't pick up, and the feeling that you are cutting through people's backyards!!!! When I move to billerica I'm gonna start the patch :)

Chelmsford has over 20 miles of trails beside the rail trail and these trails are cleared weekly if not daily. Almost all of the sites have had any trail within site of a house have been moved deeper into the open space over the last 6 years. I would say try the lime Quarry, Russell Mill, Wright, The Bog, thankgiving Forest,Deep Brook as these should give you what you are looking for. Maps can be dowwn nloaded from our town conservation site.

Good article; both towns have Starbucks but I prefer to use the dine in even for take out. Having 3 MBs in Billerica just makes it skeevy; I think Amherst St in Nashua is the same thing for having 3 MBs within 2 miles. Having a competitor in there so MB is forced to clean them up would really increased the desirability to live in that town.

I asked my Billerica cousin to comment on Chelmsford just to see how the other side lives. Here is what he said.
1. There are no sidewalks to roll up.
2. Plenty of tree limbs dangling from electric wires, though. Not my problem, man. That's what you get for building a town in a forest.
3. Town closes at 9:00PM to conserve light bulbs. Real party town, man.
4. Only town I know that needs 4 state reps, none of whom really like Chelmsford , anyway, but they pretend.
5.More by-laws than you can shake a utility pole at, in the land of the free.
6.The state votes one way and Chelmsford votes the other way and can't figure out why Beacon Hill ignores them. AND LAST on his list-
7. Love their schools but don't want to pay for them .

happy, happy.
