5 Non-Profits Doing Their Good Turn in Town

A look at which organizations are helping Chelmsford residents.

 

Welcome to Patch Picks, a column where we'll let you know the best of the best in Chelmsford for any given event or theme. This week, we're listing 5 non-profits doing great work in the area.

  • Chelmsford Food Pantry. The pantry is open on Saturdays from noon to 1:3o p.m. The pantry serves, Chelmsford, Lowell, and beyond. They accept money donations, food items, and seasonal clothing for those in need.
  • Chelmsford Women of Today. This civic volunteer group often holds fundraisers and events to help out those in need. The group meets on the third Tuesday of each month from September to June at 7 p.m. at the library. The group will also hold a "Spare the Violence" bowl-a-thon on March 13.
  • Chelmsford Open Space Stewardship. This volunteer non-profit group made up of community members maintains the town's open spaces at no cost, saving the town thousands of dollars annually. Volunteers maintain their assigned site and help mark trails where applicable.
  • Table of Plenty. This non-profit group provides a free, hot meal to anyone in need every Tuesday night at First Parish Unitarian Church from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
  • Lowell Humane Society. The Lowell Humane Society is a local non-profit shelter, housing homeless pets and working hard to find homes for their many four- and two-legged residents.
