- Survived by: His wife Elizabeth A. (Maroney) O’Brien, his mother Elizabeth (Kiernan) O'Brien, and his two sons, Kevin O’Brien of Chelmsford and Christopher O’Brien and his fiancé, Tameka Grantham of Chestnut Hill.
He is also survived by two brothers and their wives, John and Mary O'Brien of Stow, and Paul and Kathleen O'Brien of Wakefield, an aunt, Molly Kiernan of Malden, an uncle, Joseph Kiernan of NY, three sisters-in-law, Kathleen and her husband John Wilcox, Maureen Ravenscroft, and Charlene Morin. Dan is also survived by many nieces and nephews as well as many close friends.
Mr. Daniel Patrick O'Brien, 58, of Chelmsford, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by his loving family.
He was married to Mrs. Elizabeth A. (Maroney) O'Brien with whom he celebrated their 34th wedding anniversary on July 17, 2010.
Dan was born in Somerville on May 30, 1952, the son of Elizabeth (Kiernan) O'Brien and the late Joseph P. O'Brien. He was a graduate of Christopher Columbus High School in Boston with the Class of 1970, and graduated from UMASS Boston with a Bachelor of Science in Economics with the Class of 1975.
Dan was the proud owner and founder of Meat Again, Inc., a family-owned butcher shop and deli located in N. Billerica and Westford.
He was an active communicant of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church of Chelmsford, where he had taught religious education for 10 years.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 26 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Dolan Funeral Home, 106 Middlesex St., Chelmsford. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 27 at 10 a.m. from the funeral home with a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Church in Chelmsford. Burial in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Chelmsford.
