Dan Cripps Presents Native American Perspectives
- School: Chelmsford Schools
- Award: Native American Perspectives
Dan Cripps and his Native American Perspectives program is at Center Elementary school in Chelmsford this week just in time for Thanksgiving. The annual program that is sponsored by the schools PTO will be held Monday Nov. 21 through Wednesday Nov. 23.
Each year Dan comes to the school the week of Thanksgiving and sets up a tepee in the gym. Every class at the school gets the opportunity to spend 30 minutes in the tepee as Dan teaches about Native American culture.
You could see the delight on the first graders faces as they sat in the tepee and learned about the types of toys that Native American children played with.
Fourth graders were surprised to learn that Native Americans in New England did not live in tepees but rather built their homes from tree branches and wood.
Dan Cripps is a dynamic presenter and all of the children that attended the program left with a greater appreciation and understanding of The Native American Perspective.
