Canada Geese are starting to be a problem at the Heart Pond Beach. The droppings are everywhere and are becoming a mess not to mention a health hazard. Little children shouldn't have to swim and play among the many droppings. I spoke with someone at the Town Manager's office today who directed me to The Board of Health. The Board of Health Director, Rich, didn't offer much advice or assistance with the matter. He suggested we find a dog that could help scare the geese away. I hope we can find the answer to this problem before the geese destroy the beach. I did my best to clean up the droppings that were on the beach today.

Jerry has been working on this every time we see them on the beach. It took about an hour for 2 people to clean up the beach Sat am. Heart pond has one parent and about 6 or 7 smaller ones.

Coyote statues seemed to work on golf courses but a pair of swans are much better for ponds (territorial animals).

I've heard that there is a place that rents out swans. Some golf courses use them.

I was there also Thursday night cleaning. it also took about an hour to do. Every time I go there to empty the trash, cut the grass I clean the beach area. Phil is correct that Jerry does a good job. A suggestion for those that go to the beach is to absolutely stop feeding them. I have spoken to about 6-7 different parties about not feeding the geese.

I was at Heart Pond yesterday... Thankfully no geese in sight. Also, the beach looked great...someone did an excellent job cleaning up. My son and I spent a couple of hours enjoying the pond in our kayaks. We're lucky to have such a beautiful place only 5 minutes from home...
