Well, it was bound to happen many will say but today I was awakened to the fact that yes, even here in lovely Chelmsford your favorite or sentimental items can and will be stolen! For many, many years I have had a wonderful, small Tin Man adorning my garden at the entryway into my property. Not easily visible to the street however as it's tucked beyond my stone wall but precious and lovely to me none the less. For many, many years, he has stood guard there, a testament to me that yes, I could have trust that he would be there day after day with incident as I lived in a community, a world where people respected your things. Unfortunately I discovered today that it not true as I tended to this garden early this morning only to discover the hole left behind where my Tin Man stood for all those years. I have posted a sign thanking this individual (or individuals) in waking me up to the fact that something truly sentimental to me is "up for grabs" without a care. Thank you for dispelling my belief and for breaking my heart!

Sorry to read about your tin man being stolen Wendy. In the photo it appears to be a very creative work of art. I wouldn't give up hope though, as it may turn up someday. I'll be keeping an eye out for it as I bike & drive through many parts of town. I hope others keep an eye out for it as well.

Oh no Wendy! I'll miss that little man. He has such character.

He'll be back. He just took a little trip back to Oz, to get Dorothy back here after Toto stole the shoes and left without her.
Anybody hear of any scavenger hunts recently? They usually start after the beginning of school, but they may be early this year. The chef from Tango Grill turned up on Riverneck Rd., and I know someone who lost a metal yard giraffe-that turned up in the cemetery. A metal octopus turned up by the south fire station one year. That made it home again, too. One year, people were planting pink flamingoes in random people's yards. Keep the faith...he'll be back.

Thanks everyone for your kind words and tidbits of hope! I would actually find it pretty funny if Tin Man is simply looking for that Oz. He's pretty rusty (rustier than the photo) so if you see the poor soul, he's wanted home for supper! Oh and by the way, I would've loved those flamingoes to drop by my yard and yes, I would have paid dearly for them to take flight elsewhere -- what a great way to support a dear cause in my heart!!
